What is Happiness in Life?

What really makes our life Happy?

Currently I am enjoying my life at home, doing nothing (holidays). I finished with my exams a few days back and now just waiting for results. So basically its an uneventful life, without those short bursts of Happiness that you enjoy being with your friends/colleagues. By my experience happiness in life strikes just for a moment in time, that does not guarantee a long term happiness in life. 

It was a very lazy day for me. A thought which comes to my mind sometime, that why am I not happy in situations which are not harmful or neutral or normal. Does it happen to you? For instance the day after your final exams are over (when you have nothing to do) or even some other situations you could relate to when you feel unhappy without any reason.

What is the reason for this negative emotion? (Un-Happiness of life)
Is it that when there is no emotion, its actually a negative emotion..? :-/

So as all these thoughts were jumping in my mind like a kangaroo, someone had to calm it, and I asked about this to my dad! (as always)

I asked "Papa, why am I unhappy when there is no reason for me to have this feeling?". And he having a little smile on his face (which he always has before answering my queries) he said something which was a new lesson on life for me. He said, "You are the only reason for your own happiness in life". I didn't understand what he said. So he elaborated..
*The following text is in question and answer format, the questions I asked and what my Dad replied as answers:

Why am I sad even when I have everything I desire to cultivate happiness in Life?
Ans: "You always search for happiness in people, objects, food, etc, but the happiness you get out of these things is NOT permanent. Your soul is the structure of happiness, that is why the one who knows that happiness lies within, is not dependent on other things to give him happiness, to bring happiness in life."

I didn't get you? I said.
Ans: "As I said soul is the structure of happiness, as soul is infinite, hence infinite happiness! Due to this nature of our soul we always love ourselves. Ever thought?, why an old man wants to live even when he is counting his last heart beats lying on the hospital bed? This is because he loves himself no matter how old or young. If sadness would have been there to fill the vacuum of happiness, could we love ourselves this much? Remember there is no sadness, its just less or more, low or high 'Happiness' "

Hmm.. Interesting.

Then what is going through the mind of a person who wants to give up on life? One who wants to suicide!

Ans: "Well even this is an example of how much we love ourselves! When a person do not find his way out of a miserable situation in life, which is taking him away from happiness. The person, all in pure ignorance takes this decision of giving up on life. He does not find his way out. And all this just in search of happiness".

Happiness in Life

Happiness that we get from things like - ice-creams, luxury Car, a big house, vacation in europe etc. Or the happiness we get from people around us - Your Mom, Dad, sister, Girlfriend, your friends etc. and many more is just temporary. For permanent happy life you should understand that happiness does not reside in the outside world, but within you! 

But then another question arises in my mind that if I am by myself the Happiness I am searching for then why cannot I experience it?
Ans: "It is because of your perspective! Once you stop searching for happiness in things/products, or people etc, you will start experiencing the infinite happiness i.e. your soul! The mistake is not of your soul, but the perspective from which you are searching Happiness".

Wow! I know some of you who read the complete text till this point maybe a little confused. But thats fine, it is not important to understand the complete thing all at once. Just remember the application! Stop searching madly for happiness! What ever you do, do it with a smile on your face. Do it because you love doing it, not because after completing that work you will be rewarded with something which may give you happiness! 
This is indeed The real secret of Happiness in life!

Do you have Consistency at work for you to be successful?

• Being Consistent is the key to Success! By my experience of life, which is around 21 years and my fathers experience which is roughly 60 years, which makes the total experience of around 81 years. I can say consistency is the only master key to Success!

• If you are very talented, great at your work, you may get appreciated for that, or even get short time success! But is that all you need? No! Even the greatest ever talent in cricket 'Sachin Tendulkar' is such a great name today because of his Consistency.

• When I was a kid, I used to play chess every evening for around 2 hour with my dad, from 8pm to 10pm. I was so Consistent with it because my dad came home at around 7pm and after his evening snacks we used to play chess.

• Because of this routine I won Chess Championship at my school, then City and later won the district mega event. So that was my first lesson which taught me "Success requires Consistency"

• So, what more does Consistency have for you? Its a long list...

Benefits of Consistency:

1. Consistency helps you be a Leader

• If you are an entrepreneur or a leader for you being Consistent is most important! If you as a leader are not Consistent with your work, you should not expect your employees or followers to be consistent either.

• If they are your followers, then I am afraid, you may lose your followers, as they will get an impression that you are not much interested in the job.

2. Consistency helps you test your ability

• Suppose you are a painter and your first painting became a big hit, then you made 2-3 more but they didn't perform well. So you stopped making more. What happened here is you lost your consistency. Remember talent can give you initial success but consistency guarantees greatness and of course Success to the fullest!

• Now after a few years people find your painting on some website and they search for your name in the quest of finding some more paintings of you.. But how many do they find? 3 or 4?

• You have not even tested your ability of being a artist if you are not Consistent with it. And I promise you if you have consistency, success follows.

3. Consistency makes you Accountable

• I just narrated my story about me playing chess for 2 hour every day. I did that because I loved it! My father knew my accountability to playing Chess because he saw my Consistency with it..

• He knew I will arrange all the player on the board before 8 o'clock in the evening. That was me who started these evening Chess sessions, but my father was the one who encouraged me to just play it without any expectation of winning any kind of trophy.

Talent, fortune, flattery, recommendation etc may give you short term success, with these principles you will ultimately reach a plateau! Success requires Consistency..
